Samford Edible Garden Trail

Experience edible gardens of the gorgeous Samford Valley

We’re a community, volunteer run group whose number one goal is to help you learn, connect, and GROW your own food.

We do this through our regular virtual edible garden tours and through our exciting, inaugural OPEN DAY on Sunday, 16 May, 2021

What We Do

We tour edible gardens and small-scale growers in the picturesque Samford Valley and share them with you via YouTube and Facebook.

We connect people in the local community with growers, advice, and one another.

We host an annual Open Day: a huge event that involves the entire community and gardeners who open their gates to the public.

Join our Open Day, Sunday 16 May 2021

On Sunday, 16 May Samford is opening its gates to the public for a packed day of gardening advice, tips, and tours!

Our virtual tours

When we started out in 2020, we planned to showcase gardens the old fashioned way: through an open day. But 2020 lockdowns saw us grab our phones, and in an appropriately socially distanced way, visit each of the gardens ourselves.

We learnt as much as we could from each garden host, and then posted the videos up online on our Facebook and YouTube sites. We were blown away by the support we received, and we had viewers from all around Australia and even abroad. By the end of 2020, we had visited 29 gardens, not just in Samford Valley, but across south-east Queensland, and even as far north as Mackay.

In 2021, we’re still filming and posting our virtual tours, AND are getting ready to open the doors to eight inspiring edible gardens for the inaugural Open Day on May 16 this year – what more could any garden lover ask for?

So what are you waiting for?

What are people saying about our virtual tours?

“Wonderful and inspiring”

You inspired me to create an idea for my garden and talk to our school about setting up some of your ideas in our sustainability program.

Amazing”

So much to learn by example and very inspiring. Especially your hard work to still make it happen besides the odds of COVID. We are all the way in India and gaining from your sharing.

“I’ve been able to reconnect”

I live in a mining town with few gardeners. So I’ve been able to reconnect to my permaculture roots through these videos.
