The Samford Edible Garden Trail (or The Trail as we like to call it) is a not for profit community initiative of the Samford and Districts Progress and Protection Association. The Trail is organised by a handful of volunteers who are local to Samford and surrounds. Each of us share a love of eating food that we have grown ourselves; and a passion for contributing to small acts of change that we know can grow into something much bigger.
Because of the generous support of our sponsor (Samford Community Branch of Bendigo Bank) toward the running costs of the Trail, we have been able to fulfil our dream that all funds raised through the Trail are donated back toward the establishment of a community garden in Samford Village. We are so excited to announce that we are in the final stages of obtaining approval to establish a community garden in Samford Village. Keep watching this space for updates!
The Trail has 3 goals:
- To share information about backyard edible gardening, with the intent to inspire people to grow food in their own backyards
- To share information about our local small-scale growers, with the intent that more people would support buying food locally
- To make a positive contribution to the promotion of Samford and surrounds as a region that values sustainability, locally grown food, and community
What We Do
We connect people in the local community with growers, advice, and one another.
We host an annual Open Day Weekend in May: a huge event that involves the entire community and gardeners who open their gates to the public.
The Samford Edible Garden Trail is an initiative of the Samford and Districts Progress and Protection Association (SDPPA).
